Cause Above Self

When Someone goes
Out of their way
Just to make you
Feel better,
help you,
comfort you,
Or support you
Through thick and thin.
I bet you,
The first person
That crossed your mind
Was either your
Mother or father.
And then, siblings or friends.
Just for a second,
Imagine, that they aren’t there
Any longer. Pause.

How does it feel?

Ofcourse, not something
That you would ever want to.
It’s natural and
We all are alike,
And have similar needs.
But not everyone have
These people around them.
Not everyone is talked to,
When they feel lost.
Not everyone is comforted,
When they feel miserable.
Not everyone is supported
When they dream big.
Not everyone is blessed
to have ample of opportunities
And lack the basic care,
Until, we take charge
Until, we act and respond.

It starts with the moment you realize,
How hard and unfair, life can be.
And how blessed you have been
With almost everything in place.
It starts when you appreciate
the little things in life,
That often goes unnoticed.
It starts when you dream
To bring a smile
On someone’s face.
To care about someone
If they are doing fine.
To talk about issues
That, till now were ignored.
That’s the time when
Life seems happening,
And your heart is happy.
You get to feel,
Something very real and pure
That’s what true happiness is.
And you will live it, Everyday.

And once you begin,
there is no halt.
You realize unending opportunities,
To bring the change.
You discover new possibilities,
of making purpose a reality.
And this happens when,
You put the cause above yourself.
Because,
When you value purpose,
Over your lazy Sunday mornings.
When you value commitment,
Over your temporary mood swings.
When you value integrity,
Over your late night weekend plans.
When you value Cause,
above “it’s raining heavily” excuses.
Not just you are bound to see
An inspiring change in situations,
But you will see a better
Version of yourself.
Someone not just others,
But you yourself will admire too.
And then you would know
The beauty you inherit
By the value of
